This workshop will provide an introduction to Youth Advocacy Center's approaches and tools and allow participants to gain some experience using the Socratic Approaches. The format of the convening is as follows:

DAY ONE

January 20, 2010

10:30am - 1:30pm

OPEN INVITATION

Orientation: This first half-day will provide an orientation to the Socratic Approaches and Youth Advocacy Center's Getting Beyond the System tools for the broader CC25I/BSC on ILP and the Ready to Succeed communities.

2:30pm - 5:30pm

ONLY UP TO 5 PARTICIPANTS FROM EACH COUNTY

Workshop: This workshop will cover the core components of Youth Advocacy Center's approach, including:

• The Socratic Approach

• Case Analysis

• Strategies to elevate expectations

• Self-advocacy

• Information Interviews

DAY TWO

January 21, 2010

8:30am - 3:30pm

ONLY UP TO 5 PARTICIPANTS FROM EACH COUNTY

Workshop: This workshop will cover the core components of Youth Advocacy Center's approach, including:

• Strategies to elevate expectations

• Self-Advocacy

• Information interviews

Available Hotel Group Rate(s)

CalSWEC contracted a lodging room block with the Hyatt Regency San Francisco International Airport Hotel, Burlingame, at $119.00 per night.  This special group rate is also valid two (2) days prior and after the meeting.  Taxes and a tourism assessment fee will apply in the amount of ten percent (10%) per room per night, and a fee of $1.25 per room, respectively. Please call in your lodging reservation directly to the "Group Reservation ," phone  800 720 0059,  and identify the meeting as "Getting Beyond the System - Socratic Approaches Workshop," to obtain the group rate.

Lodging cut-off date: December 30, 2009

Reservation requests received after the cut-off date will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.

SHUTTLE INFO TO/FROM San Francisco Airport: A complimentary shuttle is available every day, and runs every 10-15 minutes.  Take your luggage to the Departures Level, center island, and look for the area marked "Hotel Shuttle" locate Hyatt Regency and Marriott Bus.  For arrivals from Midnight - 4:45 a.m.:  shuttles pick up every 30 minutes.

PARKING INFO:
Self Parking:
$2.00 for the first hour, $1.50 for every additional hour, $18.00 overnight

Valet Parking:
$9.00 up to four hours, $15.00 4 to 10 hours, and $25.00 overnight

All rates include in / out privileges. Valet parking is available for vehicles over 6'4".  Parking for RV's or trailers is a flat rate of $36 per night, based upon space availability.
